Ooh la Leather!

Sooo, I've been keeping a few little secrets and it's (finally!) time to spill the beans! 

But first, the backstory...

For those who might not be aware, my nomad days have come to a temporary halt and we've been spending loads of time in Medellin, Colombia. Since the moment we arrived, inspiration was everywhere and I was in color lover heaven! From the gorgeous handwoven Mochila Bags to the kind people we meet every day, things are really good here, and good things are falling into place. And being here has lead me to some fine folks and opened up some opportunities to keep Fosterie growing and improving, which is very fun stuff! (See why we haven't left yet?...)

A long-time dream of mine was to produce a small line of clutches, inspired by grandparents 'opposites attract' love story. I wanted to the bags to be a little bit classy, and a little bit sassy, just like them. And as most things have happened here so far, one thing lead to another and boom! (well, less boom, more blood, sweat, tears) I was able to do just that. Harwell & Nell launched in April and I'm super thrilled about it. 

But what does this mean for FOSTERIE? Well, in working with leather, the idea for a leather Mochila came to mind, and soon after, came to fruition. Combining locally sourced small batch leather, with Wayuu woven straps, and super fun fabrics for the interiors, the combinations are a FOSTERIE exclusive and completely one-of-a-kind. I've loved running around town, shopping local small shops for fabrics, zippers, and working with a local manufacturer to get them sewn up. The first time a saw that leather stamp inside I nearly jumped with excitement. It's completely elating so see something you love come to life. Best of all, I love that they're a total Colombian delight, made of local materials, by local people and will benefit those in need in the new home that we love. ($5 of each purchase helps provide food at water to the Wayuu Tribe.)

These have been a few months in the making and I'm thrilled to finally announce that the leather shop is NOW OPEN!
